Matthew Cormia

With over three decades of professional architectural experience, Matt is passionate about the built environment as it relates to the human experience. Guiding his team through all projects from concept to completion, he also believes that strong, trusting client relationships are the key to success. His love for architecture started at age eleven. He took drafting classes in high school, worked construction in the summers, and spent most of his life pursuing and practicing architecture. Along with his formal education (bachelor's degree in Architecture from California Polytechnic – San Luis Obispo), “learn by doing” principles are the fabric of his career. With a passion for the construction side of architecture, it’s not uncommon to find Matt solving an issue with a client and general contractor on a job site. His love for the final product helps him provide new and creative solutions.

Mickey Jacob

A native of Windsor, Ontario, Canada, Mickey graduated from the University of Detroit School of Architecture in 1981 moving immediately to Tampa where he has practiced Architecture for 42 years. Mickey is a “Citizen Architect” who has dedicated his career to leadership in the profession with a commitment to create inspiring places that improve the quality of life for everyone in the community. For his entire career Mickey has been dedicated to leadership roles in all levels of the American Institute of Architects. In recognition of his work and commitment to leadership, AIA Florida created the “Jacob Leadership Institute” (JLI) to provide leadership training and support to architects. In 2009 Mickey was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows and in 2020 he was conferred Honorary Fellowship in the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada. Additionally, Mickey served as the President of AIA Florida in 2004-2005 and in 2013 Mickey became the 89th President of the American Institute of Architects. In fall of 2023, Mickey opened our new Tampa office - expanding our footprint across the state.

VP of Operations

Ben Hooley

Ben graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a bachelor's degree in Architecture and worked in Cincinnati and San Diego before making Orlando his home over a decade ago. He joined Cormia Design Group to work on residential, retail, office, light-industrial, government, and education projects. He now focuses on multifamily and mixed-use projects. In Ben's role of VP of Operations, he works as the integrator for our company's vision (often including a checklist). Ben is driven to help our clients maximize their project’s potential by guiding their design from early vision to finished built form. "Building lasting relationships and having fun doing all of this is icing on the cake.” After hours, Ben spends his time with his wonderful wife and beautiful daughter. He enjoys cooking and eating flavorful food, brewing and drinking beer, live music, and photography. He has seen 48 of the 50 states and once hiked from Mexico to Canada.

Melissa Harvey

A true Florida native, Melissa left her hometown of Tampa to get a bachelor’s degree in Architecture at Auburn University (War Eagle!), only to come back after missing the sunshine state to establish roots in Orlando. Her experience ranges from hospitality to performing arts to healthcare, and her current expertise lies in multifamily. Melissa loves spending Saturdays in the fall watching college football as well as spending time with her husband, baby girl, and two fur babies while taking RV trips around the country. Her favorite place to travel is anywhere she hasn’t been yet.

Natalie Casey

Natalie is an Orlando native that has acquired a sound overall knowledge of leading-edge design principles and tools with an emphasis on designing for healthcare, corporate interiors, and community spaces. As a dual graduate from the University of Florida’s Interior Design program and Graduate School of Architecture she possesses the ability to visualize and elevate the full design of a building inside and out. Natalie's ability to execute a project with strategic success is brought about by her exceptional communication and presentation skills. She offers Cormia Design Group the unique combination of a people-oriented, teamwork enthusiast combined with a self-motivated professional, who appreciates the need for efficiency and productivity. When out of the office, Natalie enjoys connecting back to nature through various outdoor activities, like camping, and she is also an avid foodie on the hunt for the unique tasty treats. Above all, her favorite past time is laughing with her family.

Director

Randal Lindsey

Randy studied at Vatterott College in his hometown St. Louis, Missouri. As a St. Louis native, he is an avid Cardinals fan. Before school, Randy spent time as a Fire Support Specialist in the United States Army. Randy later moved to Orlando over 15 years ago to continue his career in the CRE field. With over 20 years in restaurant and retail design experience, Randy joined Cormia Design Group to work on and head the Construction Administration team. Outside the office, Randy spends his free time home-brewing beers and traveling. If you cannot find him, check the West Indies or on a cruise ship!

Sam Sampoux

Sam is originally from Belgium and attended the University of South Florida in Tampa, where he graduated with a master's degree in Architecture. He is experienced in retail, hospitality, healthcare, and multifamily projects, with a strong focus in high-rise projects. Actively involved with the development of Revit Standards since its inception, he sees the repetitive task as an opportunity to develop systems. He asks himself “if there’s a better way” before tackling a job and has even created custom coding to speed up tasks. Outside the office, Sam enjoys working on home renovation projects and going on family camping trips. He finds his obsession with power tools "perfectly normal."

Stacey Mortensen

Stacey graduated from the University of Florida and then went on to get her MBA from Rollins College in Winter Park. She started her career at a fast-growing distribution company responsible for operations and finances. During the companies’ rapid growth, Stacey was responsible for restructuring capital and operational efficiencies to better align with their long-term strategies. She then went on to work with companies on a consulting basis to improve their operational and financial components. Stacey’s area of expertise is helping companies to establish and maintain a strong financial foundation and operational structure.

Geoff Geddes

Geoff attended the University of Kentucky, where he received a bachelor's degree in Architecture (Go Wildcats!). Following his degree, Geoff moved to Orlando where he has worked in the architecture industry for over two decades. Geoff joins Cormia Design Group's Construction Administration team, bringing an expertise in the design side and in quality control. On the weekends, he enjoys riding and building bicycles. Geoff can be found spending time in the garage brazing bike frames or working on various home improvement projects.

Team Leader

Justin Westerfeld

Justin was born in St. Louis (Go Cardinals!) and has lived all over the country prior to setting up roots in Florida. He can often be seen sporting his favorite color for his favorite team - red. Before joining the architecture industry, Justin served in the United States Marine Corps. He later attended the University of South Florida where he received his master's degree in architecture (with coworker Sam Sampoux), and has been in Florida ever since. Justin brings a wide variety of experience to Cormia Design Group, including his heavy hand in entertainment, hospitality, restaurants, and multifamily projects. Outside of work, Justin can be found anywhere outdoors - camping, fishing, riding his Harley Davidson, spending time with his beautiful family, coaching little league, you name it.

Lydia Obispo

Lydia graduated from Far Eastern University with a bachelor's degree in Architecture in the Philippines. She worked in Architectural & Interior Design firms in Manila, Singapore and Los Angeles, CA before moving to Orlando in 2005. She is experienced in retail, multifamily, and mixed-use projects. As a designer, she enjoys bringing each client’s vision to life through creative design solutions. She understands the importance of listening to client needs and she believes that the success of the project requires collaboration and teamwork. Outside of work, Lydia enjoys spending time with her husband and their 2 dogs. She enjoys sewing, sketching, and acrylic painting.

Marketa Hollingsworth

After moving to Winter Park, Florida as a child, Marketa established deep roots in the Sunshine State. Marketa attended Florida A & M University in Tallahassee, FL, where she pursued two degrees - a bachelor's degree in Architecture and a master's degree in Architecture. While in college, Marketa met her husband whom she now shares two wonderful children. Marketa’s career had a unique start, as she entered the workforce during the recession and made the move to teaching as an interior design adjunct professor at a local college. Little did she know that this teaching experience would spark a passion and set the course for a remarkable career shift. Her portfolio includes diverse aviation, convention centers, and education projects, showcasing her versatility and creative prowess. Outside the office, Marketa loves to spend quality time with family, indulge in tasty meals, pamper herself with mani-pedis and massages, and find solace in the art of organization.

Annabelle Fowler

Born and raised in Central Florida, Annabelle is a true Florida resident. She temporarily left the state to attend the University of South Carolina (Go Gamecocks!) and graduated with a bachelor's degree in Public Relations.

As an SEC school alumna, she is an avid fan of college basketball and takes March Madness - very - seriously. (Once again, Go Gamecocks!) She loves to keep the office in the know on all things pop culture and with what's trending. Outside of the office, you can find Annabelle at an indie concert with coworker Taylor Persicketti. And when not spending the evening listening to live music, you can find her buying gifts for her cat, Lucy, or participating in her long list of hobbies including yoga, ballet, reading, and many more.

Benedict DeLeon

Benedict received his B.S. in Architecture at Mapua Institute of Technology in Manila, Philippines (with former classmate turned coworker Rikki Tienzo). He moved to the United States over 30 years ago and worked in New York and Michigan before making Florida his home. Benedict currently works on our multifamily team specializing in construction documents and quality control using Revit. 

With a frequent "out of office" message, Benedict loves to travel with his family. While traveling, he loves to explore "hole-in-the-wall" restaurants or cook for his family. He loves a lazy weekend at home or a quick match at the tennis courts when staying in Orlando. 

Project Coordinator

Benta Horton-Gee

Benta Horton-Gee is a Project Coordinator at Cormia Design Group with 7+ years of experience delivering successful multifamily developments. She brings a comprehensive understanding of the design process, exceptional project management abilities, and a commitment to upholding design intent while ensuring code compliance and constructability. Benta's expertise spans all phases of project delivery, from conceptual planning to construction administration. She excels at coordinating consultant teams, monitoring construction progress, and implementing solutions that balance aesthetics, affordability, and functionality. With a Bachelor of Architecture from Howard University, Benta is poised to contribute valuable insights and drive successful project outcomes for Cormia's clients.

Brittney Norwood

Born and raised in Central Florida, Brittney’s interest in architecture started with her surroundings in Maitland and Winter Park. She left the area briefly to attend Florida A&M University in Tallahassee, FL where she received a bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
Because Central Florida has her heart, Brittney returned to Orlando where she has gained experience in the hospitality and multifamily sectors. Enabling her to develop a strong understanding of designing for these specific types of projects. Outside of the office, Brittney enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and working on her many, many crafting projects.

Project Coordinator

Christopher Robles

 With a Master’s in Architecture from the University of Florida, Christopher has successfully contributed to a diverse range of architectural projects, including commercial, residential, hospitality, and multi-family developments. 

Highly skilled in Revit, Christopher leverages technology to streamline workflows and enhance collaboration among design teams, contractors, and clients. Known for his attention to detail and commitment to delivering quality results, he effectively manages projects from start to finish. 

Outside of work, Christopher is passionate about sports and is often found cheering for his favorite teams. A proud dog owner, he enjoys spending time with his Shiba Inu, and when not immersed in architecture, he loves traveling—whether for inspiration or adventure. 

Office Manager

Dina Cormia

Dina grew up in Southern California and graduated from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and received her teaching credential from Concordia University, Irvine.

She taught for 20 years in Early Child Development and Elementary Education. She enjoys spending time with her three daughters and one grandson. Outside

of work, Dina enjoys traveling to new places and exploring different cultures.  She loves strength training, running, hiking and team sports.

Edwin Pena

Raised in Inwood Heights AKA Little Dominican Republic of New York City, Edwin cultivated a passion for design and structure, earning a bachelor’s degree in architecture. His career journey has been as diverse as the skyline itself, with expertise in exterior restoration, public transportation, educational institutions, and multifamily developments. Seeking a change of pace, Edwin moved to Orlando, drawn by its warm climate and laid-back lifestyle. When he's not exploring architectural wonders, you'll find him cheering for the Dallas Mavericks or perfecting his swing on the golf course—a newfound hobby that keeps him on his toes.

Construction Administration

Ernesto Lassus

Ernesto is in the construction administration department at Cormia Design Group and brings with him over 30 years of construction and design experience. His love for architecture began at the age of seven and by his late teenage years, his future was determined once he joined the construction industry. Hard work, training, and perseverance have proven to be valuable allies in forming him as a professional. His experience as a builder includes single family home building and residential remodeling work. Design and construction administration work experience includes warehouses, supermarkets, restaurants, retail, office spaces, hotels, churches, multifamily, and kitchen and bath designing. In his free time, you can find him playing his piano, guitar, bass, or reading.

Project Manager

Jason Kaufmann

As a project manager, Jason’s vast experience includes retail, restaurant, entertainment, multifamily, high-rise, executive offices, and healthcare offices. He was drawn to problem-solving and construction at a young age when he was introduced to Legos and an erector set. His proverbial “trying to fit 10 pounds of bolts into a 5-pound bucket” is well known throughout the office. He frequents big box home improvement stores in his spare time as he battles his never-ending to-do list.

Lois Hanna

Lois Hanna is originally from Egypt, a country rich in history and culture. Growing up amidst the ancient wonders of the Pyramids and the serene beauty of Christian monasteries, Lois developed a deep appreciation for architecture and history. She earned her Bachelor's degree in Architecture and Urban Design from Cairo University after five years of study.

After relocating to the United States with her husband and two daughters, Lois furthered her education and pursued her Master’s degree in Construction Management from the University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR). She is especially proud that both of her daughters are now pursuing careers in the medical field.

Currently based in Orlando, Lois has gained valuable experience in the retail and grocery industries, with a particular passion for site design. 

Outside of her professional work, Lois is deeply committed to mentoring elementary school students, offering guidance both academically and emotionally. Lois is also pursuing studies in family counseling to better serve her community.

When not working, Lois enjoys traveling, exploring historical buildings, and listening to hymns and music. She treasures quality time with her family, whether it’s on vacation or simply taking walks with her beloved dog, Simba.

Construction Administration

Maria Restrepo

Maria is a New York native who considers herself a Floridian after arriving and growing her family here over 20 years ago. Maria is an innate chef who went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts (Mise en Place!) and has worked in various high-end restaurants throughout the states of Florida and New York.
Nevertheless, after entering the world of architecture and construction, she has never looked back. Her passion is seeing all types of building projects and their beauty come to life. You can either find Maria in the office helping out in the background or out on site visits engaging and learning from all aspects of the construction stages. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, cooking, trying out new foods, and most of all, spending time with her husband, two children, and their fur babies. Maria is a true Cancerian homebody at heart and greatly believes that one should remain humble and never stop learning throughout their lifetime.

Meredith Moon

Interior designer Meredith Moon hails from Tampa, Florida, where she supports local sports teams such as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Tampa Bay Rays. She pursued her education at the International Academy of Design and Technology (IADT) and has spent nine years in the hospitality industry, securing her current role through an internship. Meredith has a strong passion for design, color, and creativity, and is an active member of NEWH, contributing to charitable organizations like Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, and Helping Hands. In her leisure time, she enjoys volleyball, event planning, cycling, reading, volunteering, and organizing. Currently, she is preparing for her Interior Design License and is recognized for her team-oriented, enthusiastic, and passionate approach, along with her proven artistic skills.

ASSOCIATE

Patrick Harsha

Raised in Marion, Indiana, Pat has made Orlando, Florida his home over the last 30 years. His experience ranges from the Architectural to the MEP end of projects. His project experience includes, but is not limited to, restaurants, bars, commercial/industrial kitchens, retail, office buildings, residential, churches, stadiums, and theme parks. 

Outside of the office, you can find Pat doing something creative. Whether that's cabinet making, woodworking, model making, electronics projects, DIYing Halloween costumes, music performing and recording (trombone and bass guitar), or working on his aquariums (fresh and salt water, indoor and outdoor ponds, and filtration) - just depends on the day.

Project Manager

Prinze Liston

Prinze received a Bachelor's degree from the University of San Carlos in Cebu City, Philippines. He is a licensed Architect in the Philippines and is working towards licensing in the United States. Prinze's work experience ranges from retail projects including fast food chains, high-end restaurants, dental clinics, and entertainment projects, along with religious and healthcare facilities. Currently, Prinze is a member of the multifamily team and works on wrap-style and garden-style apartments. Prinze is a key member of the team from developing plans, to answering city comments and attending site visits during construction.Outside of the office, you can find him participating in one of his many hobbies including juggling, biking, and pickleball.

Raheem Bishop

As a child in Barbados, Raheem was fascinated by sketching buildings and plans. As he grew up, he continued exploring how things were constructed and why they functioned the way they did. He went on to receive a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture at The University of Technology, Jamaica, where he was also named valedictorian in his graduating year. Furthering his education, he graduated from Florida International University in Miami, FL, with his Master’s in Architecture, ultimately gaining full licensure a few years after graduation.

As he continues to grow and evolve in his profession, Raheem remains rooted in his beginnings on the beautiful shores of Barbados. He credits his passion and success to his Caribbean roots, which have instilled in him a strong work ethic, dedication, and cultural appreciation. With almost a decade of experience in the field, Raheem continues to evolve as an architect, constantly expanding his knowledge and skills. His diverse portfolio showcases his versatility and creativity, ranging from aviation to museums, and recreation-based commercial and retail projects.

Rikki Tienzo

Rikki designed and built his first house at 19 and that confirmed his calling.  It was also the time when the industry started using computers in the Philippines.  After getting his license, he got interested in academics and taught architecture and computers for more than a decade. Given an opportunity to join an architectural firm in Chicago and eventually with Cormia Design Group, he soon understood what people meant when they say, “If you love what you do, it is not work.”  Getting paid is just a perk.

Oh, and he loves donuts too.

Taylor Persicketti

Taylor was born in North Carolina, before making Satellite Beach her home in high school. She attended Valencia before graduating the University of Central Florida with a bachelor's degree in architecture. In the office, Taylor's work focuses on problem solving and schematic design - primarily for multifamily projects. Outside of the office, Taylor has two very loved dogs and can be found at a local market, coffee shop, or indie concert (with coworker Annabelle).
